At Maven Photo + Film, we specialize in telling stories that matter and few stories are more meaningful than those that equip people to respond in a time of crisis. That’s why we were honored to travel to Barbados, for the second time, to document an intensive disaster preparedness training hosted by My Medic, a leader in first aid kits and emergency response education.
Our team was tasked with capturing photo and video content throughout the multi-day training, which brought participants together to learn, practice, and ultimately demonstrate life-saving techniques in real-world scenarios. From first aid instruction to high-angle repelling and full-scale simulation drills, this training experience was not only hands-on, it was visually powerful and deeply impactful.
When working with a brand like My Medic, our goal is twofold: capture the intensity and purpose of the moment, and craft content that strengthens their brand presence across marketing, education, and internal communications. We don’t just film, we embed ourselves in the environment, ensuring we understand the heart of the training and the mission behind it.
In Barbados, that meant adapting quickly to a range of dynamic filming conditions. We shot in quarries, in classrooms, and on the go—using everything from drones to gimbal rigs to handheld cameras to capture the essence of the experience. Whether it was trainees learning how to stabilize a patient or instructors preparing the team for repelling drills, we were there to document the action with precision and respect.
We also planned our gear and strategy around safety and discretion, working around the training, not interrupting it. With dual audio setups, multi-camera angles, and a focus on capturing emotion as well as action, we were able to build a wide array of usable content across formats.
Beyond the technical aspects, what stood out most to us was the passion and professionalism of the My Medic team. Their commitment to equipping communities with real skills for real emergencies was evident in every interaction. That authenticity is what makes our job easy—we simply help make it visible.
Creating video and photo content for disaster training requires a deep sense of situational awareness. We’re not just producing highlight reels, we’re building a visual library that showcases credibility, confidence, and care. It’s about helping our clients tell stories that inspire trust, action, and alignment with their mission.
For brands in the medical, safety, or training industries, this type of documentation is crucial. It’s not only proof of performance, it’s a powerful way to educate and engage audiences. The content we captured for My Medic will live on in training decks, social media campaigns, recruitment efforts, and more.
At Maven Photo + Film, we bring the same energy and intentionality to every project, whether it’s a product launch, a corporate retreat, or a week-long international documentation effort. We understand the balance between cinematic polish and real-life authenticity—and we tailor every frame to reflect your brand’s values and voice.
If your organization is looking for disaster preparedness video production, training content creation, or medical brand videography, we’d love to be part of your next chapter. We’re here to help you tell the story, not just of what you do, but why it matters.
Because stories like these, of people preparing to protect others, of communities getting stronger, of training turning into action, deserve to be seen, shared, and remembered.
